TRN-ABQ to Host Indigenous Peoples Day In Solidarity With #CloseTheCamps

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Downloadable version here)

WHAT: 2019 Indigenous Peoples Day March & Rally

WHEN: Monday, October 14, 2019, 5:30pm to 8:30pm

WHERE: Meet at intersection of 1st St SE & Central Ave SW. March begins at 5:30pm with rally to follow. Rally location TBA.

WHY: It’s that time of year to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day again, relatives! This year’s theme is “No Deportations, Decolonize This Nation!”

On this #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we call on all those who oppose ICE raids, family separation, deportations, and incarceration to unite against the racist persecution of Indigenous and poor people by the United States.

It is time to say, “¡Basta Ya!” Enough is enough!

In solidarity with a national call to action issued by the Coalition to Close the Concentration Camps, The Red Nation will lead an #IPD2019 rally and march in solidarity with our Indigenous, refugee, and migrant relatives who are being brutalized, caged, incarcerated and killed by the U.S. government. We demand that the U.S. government #CloseTheCamps and #LetEveryoneIn.

We as Indigenous peoples and nations of these lands reclaim our authority to determine criteria for citizenship and belonging. We build upon our long traditions of kinship and hospitality to make and welcome new relatives in our lands and nations. We demand the US government cede power to Indigenous nations who possess this rightful political authority in these lands.

The United States has no authority on stolen land.

This is an all-ages event and an alcohol/drug free space. If you would like to volunteer please contact The Red Nation via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or email.

Our rally speakers will be speaking in both English and Spanish.
